Harrison and Calista find the romance of Europe irresistible
during their grand summer tour.

It's a summer holiday of adventurous proportions for Indiana
Jones
star Harrison Ford and girlfriend Calista Flockhart,
who have been spotted boating in Britain, basking in the sun in
Tuscany and admiring the culture and artiness of Barcelona- all
his and Iceland still on the schedule.

It also looks like Harrison and Calista's grand tour of Europe
has been a complete success in romantic terms for the couple who,
earlier this year, seemed to be limping towards a split. With
Calista's three-year-old son Liam and Harrison's 13-year-old
daughter Georgia accompanying them, they looked totally relaxed
and happy to be together.

Europe is something of a home from home for the Hollywood pair,
who first came here together at the beginning of their romance.
If Harrison and Calista love Europe, it certainly returns the
compliment. Despite cutting short their barge holiday in Shropshire
and Wales because of inclement weather, the starry tourists have
done wonders for British Waterways' trade, news of their trip having
boosted bookings for canal boats ten-fold according to one narrowboat
hire company. And after they stayed at the four-star Bryn-Howel Hotel
in Llangollen, Wales, the owners decided to put a brass plaque on the
wall to announce the 'Harrison Ford Wing'. "Everyone wants to sit at
the same table they sat at and to stay in the same rooms," says the
36-room hotel's owner Barry Cowan.

After the rigours of running locks and steering the barge, next stop
on the lovebirds' tour was Italy and relaxation in the Tuscan resort
of Marina di Castagneto Carducci, a stone's throw from the home of the
Duchess of York's friend Count Gaddo della Gherardesca. There they stayed
at the Tombolo hotel, which has spa facilities housed in natural caves.

Then it was a dash across the Med to Barcelona where the accent was on
taking in as much culture as they could, including climbing up the steep
stairs of Gaudi's famous Sagrada Familia Cathedral, which Harrison declared
"fantastic". The actor, who turned 64 during the trip, also took up the offer
of a tennis match against twice-French Open winner Sergi Bruguera, who was
keen to help the movie idol keep his tennis arm in while away.
Ally McBeal
star Calista, 39, and Harrison looked ready to call time on their two-and-a-half-year-affair
back in January, when he was reportedly spotted, rather tired and emotional, in a bar
in Mexico, saying the affair was all but over. But they were rarely apart on this trip,
as their relationship seemed to go from strength to strength-who knows, perhaps helped
by the romance that old Europe can still provide?
